White Gate Wine Co explores a lighter side of the Barossa.

Owned and operated by Murphy Shortt and Chad Connolly, we are first generation in wine, and now a family business after welcoming our first son Lenny, smack bang in the middle of the 2025 vintage. We'll have to save him a few bottles.

We work with varieties that thrive in warm climates and pick earlier to preserve freshness and balance. Fermentations often include whole bunches, with gentle extraction and patient élevage in older oak.

The goal is not power or excess, but wines that carry energy, texture and drinkability.

These are wines shaped by the rhythm of the vineyard and the vintage, not by formula.

Barossa has long been known for its weight and richness. While those wines have their place, we’re interested in something different, wines that move with ease across the table and invite another glass.
