2022 SYRAH

The journey of a light Barossa Syrah that speaks of Europe. 

We're in the green zone here with a very zippy crunchy Syrah. The fruits off some pretty heavy dark black clays on the Valley floor, so we get serious colour from very minimal extraction. It does not taste how it looks though, light plush mouthfeel with crunch and tannin for days. Will suit some time in the cellar too. 

TASTING NOTE:
Deep purple, liquorice aniseed on the nose. The palate features soft and plush, chocolate, cherry with plenty of grip and structure, fine tannins and a long soft finish.

VINIFICATION:
70% whole bunches, semi-carbonic fermentation over 14 days, basket pressed to seasoned hogsheads.

Cooler and more elegant in style, the enticing bouquet shows Black Doris plum, bouquet garni, cured meat and rich floral aromas, followed by a finely flowing palate that's succulent and flavoursome. "Take a whiff and it is clear that the whole bunches drive the savoury profile. Char and pan juice aromas muse with soft florals. Like all of Connolly's wines, there is detail and interest. Here we see pizza sauce, oregano and a charcuterie board meatiness. Time in the glass energises dark berries, black pepper, a little paprika and Moroccan spices. The mouthfeel is seductive as soft tannins build momentum and gradually dry out leaving a dusty finish. Great stuff."
